When You Bring Your Child

A teacher or parent helper will meet you at the room door to take your child and diaper bag. Please—only one parent enter the room. Note any information that will help in caring for your child such as feeding, sleeping, etc., by using the “Preschool Information Sheet”.

Your Identification Card

When checking a child into the preschool rooms, you will receive a card which is your child’s security number. That number can be displayed in the Northwest Center or by beeper or phone in your Adult Bible Fellowship class in the event you are needed. A child can only be reclaimed by the person who returns this card to the teacher. Each child who has a security card also has a parent location card. This card states where the parent is during each hour (7:50, 9:15, 10:45). The card is kept in a file in the child’s preschool room. Before you leave your child, please make sure your “parent location” card is correct, should we need to locate you.

Saying Good-Bye

After you have completed the check-in process, simply wave a quick goodbye and leave for service or Adult Bible Fellowship. It is normal for little ones to cry when leaving a parent. This does not last long and separation becomes easier as you develop regular attendance routines. Our workers will try to create interest in a toy or activity and give assurance that you will return. If your child cries for an extended period of time (15 minutes) we will locate you in your class or service and ask you to stay with your child for the rest of the session to help acquaint him/her with the room in the security of your presence.

What To Bring

When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items:

  • Two to three disposable diapers. (Even if you use a diaper service, it is a tremendous help to us if you have disposable diapers on hand for church.)

  • Pacifier or other items your child might need for security.

  • One, or preferably two, complete changes of clothing.

  • A bottle of milk, formula, juice or water. (This is a good practice even for mothers who nurse.)

Please mark all personal items (including bottles and caps) with your child’s first and last name before you come! Please do not bring extra blankets or toys as there is always the risk they may be misplaced or lost. Our rooms are equipped with age-appropriate toys.

Curriculum

Curriculum is supplied for all ages. Regular learning experiences are planned and lessons are reinforced with songs, play and loosely structured age-appropriate activities.

Snacks

Snacks are provided for preschoolers. The food items consist of one of the following: Graham, cheese fish or Ritz crackers, Vanilla Wafers, or Cheerios. If you do not wish your child to have these, please indicate this information to the teacher or parent helper. Please make the Preschool Office aware of any food allergies.

Checking on Your Child

Feel free to check on your little one in any of the locations at any time during the service. However, we ask that you do so discreetly, trying not to let your child see you. If they do see you and become upset, you may be asked to assist in the room until they are comforted again.

Pick-Up and Check-Out Procedures

Remember you will be required to return your security identification number card to receive your child. In the event you have lost or misplaced your card, you will be asked to locate the Division Director or Preschool Minister and provide proof that you are eligible to pick up the child.

You are asked to pick up your children within 15 minutes after the end of the service or Adult Bible Fellowship. This courtesy allows our workers the same freedom you enjoy for fellowship and departure.

Please make sure all items that you left with us have been returned to you before you leave the premises. Lost and Found is located in the Welcome Center.

A Special Note Regarding Toilet Training

Beginning in the Toddler classes, we will do our best to encourage your child to use the toilet as soon as you tell us you have begun that procedure. Until this process is mastered, however, please use pull-ups. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Regarding Your Child’s Health

For the protection of all the children, we cannot accept a child with a runny nose, fresh cold (four days or less), fever, rash, persistent cough, diarrhea or any other signs of illness. Remember, there is an incubation period for most diseases.

Please do not put your child in any of the preschool facilities while they are at risk of exposing other children. Thank you in advance for helping us keep our room a healthy place for all.

NOTE: Children will at times become ill very suddenly. Should your child show any symptoms, we will contact you in your class or service. It is imperative that you not leave the church campus while your child is in our care. In the event that an emergency would require your attention you should be readily available.

Nursing Mothers Room Guidelines

A nursing room is located in NE 108 to provide privacy during feeding and changing times. A big screen TV in the room displays the worship service. We do ask mothers to limit their stay to just the time required to meet the needs of their child. We also ask that only mothers and infants be present in the nursing room. Family members are asked to wait outside.

Offering Envelopes

Preschool offering envelopes are available in your child’s classroom. Parents are encouraged to ask for a supply and begin teaching their children to give.

Parent Involvement

We would like to include you in your child’s experience here at Casas. We ask preschool parents to assist one or more times each month. Teacher training sessions are held during the year. You are invited to attend and become better acquainted with us. The Preschool Office calls parents and helps assign them to a preschool classroom. We greatly appreciate your help in the classroom.
