Chet_Weld

Dr. Chet Weld has been a faith-based counselor for over 30 years. Presently, he serves as a pastor and the Director of Pastoral Counseling at Casas Church. Dr. Weld has been trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and other counseling approaches. He specializes in couple counseling, often using principles of Accelerated Relational Care, as well as Integrative Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, for couples. Dr. Weld's work with couples include affair situations, communications training, helping couples to meet unmet needs, premarital counseling, and a variety of couples' issues. He also counsels individuals who suffer from such disorders as anxiety, depression, addiction issues, spiritual growth issues, codependency, bipolar disorders, and grieving. He gives a variety of assessments, including the MMPI-II, the Millon, the FIRO-B, and the MBTI.

Licensed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Dr. Weld earned his B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1970, his M.Ed. in Counseling and Guidance in 1977 from the University of Arizona, and his Ed.D. in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University in 2006. He attended Union Theological Seminary in New York, New York from 1970-72, and he also participated in summer studies at Dartmouth College and studied at other universities.

Dr. Weld is certified by the International Board of Christian Counselors as a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor and has published in Counseling and Values, The Family Journal, and The Journal of Psychology and Theology. He co-authored a chapter in Culturally Alert Counseling, edited by Garrett McAuliffe. His dissertation is available for purchase on ProQuest.

Dr. Weld enjoys counseling, teaching, and giving seminars on a variety of counseling related subjects, including stress management, conflict resolution, and teen brain chemistry. He has written blogs and made podcasts with Dr. Roger Barrier on PreachItTeachIt.org. Dr. Weld's hobbies are reading books on neuroscience and miracles. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, exercising, and writing music.
