Here is a short challenge for you! Check out the archive for past challenges!
Ask not what your 'CHURCH' can do for you,
ask what you can do for your 'CHURCH'
Has it been hard for you to connect with students at church? Have you been able to connect at all? Do you find yourself on Sunday mornings feeling like you don't fit in? That should never be the case. Sure churches can be overwhelming, especially a church the size of Casas, but no one should ever feel alone in the house of God.
One of the key issues - and sadly, a key problem - at church is the feeling of disconnection. Church should be a place of comfort where you can go and feel loved; it should be a place of Refuge.
You can start getting connected right away; there are many ways to get involved. For instance:
Summer Small Groups , which are starting up in July, and year around small groups that run from the beginning of fall to the end of spring are a good place to get involved. Small groups are a great way to meet people in a smaller setting and a great chance to grow and learn more about God with students your age.
Another great way to get connected is to go on special retreats and mission trips that the church organizes. There is the summer retreat and usually a mission trip held during the year. These bring you closer to God and feed your spiritual hunger as you learn to serve and connect with students just like you.
There are also great ways to help out during Sunday morning with the Connection Team , Worship Leading , the Tech Team , etc. These are all ways you get to meet people and have fun while serving the Lord.
I know it can be hard and frustrating when you feel that you are not connecting well with your church. My challenge to you is to take advantage of what your church has to offer. Try some of the suggestions listed above, and start getting connected right now. The church is not a building, it is the body of Christ. It is the people in the church who make it was it is.
As stated in Ephesians 1:23 (NLT)
"And the church is his body; it is filled by Christ, who fills everything everywhere with his presence."
To get connected you might have to ask yourself a different question:
"Ask not what your ' CHURCH' can do for you, ask what you can do for your ' CHURCH' ."
This is a revised quote taken from one of our former Presidents, John F. Kennedy.
As brothers and sisters in Christ, let's work together and pray together so we can live a life uplifting and pleasing to God. Take time to find out how you can get connected . God said, "It is not good for man to be alone."
